Tooth whitening
Zoom 2 whitening as seen on Extreme Makeovers ABC
What happens and when
At your first visit:
We will check your medical history and the dentist will make sure that you are suitable for the Zoom 2 whitening procedure.
This first visit costs just £50, however, when you have the whitening this is deducted from your next payment.
If you have any gum disease, or damaged teeth, these problems will need to be attended to before you can have whitening.
Crowns, dentures or fillings will not whiten with any whitening system.
You can either, go back to your regular dentist, or if you wish, you can make an appointment for a full examination with one of our dentists at Appledore Dental Clinic.
You need to be aware that if you already have white teeth, the difference will not be as dramatic as if you have dark teeth.
The dentist will also give you special instructions about what you can and cannot eat for 24 hours after your Zoom 2
When you are ready to go ahead with your whitening:
Most people also need to have a hygiene visit first to remove the superficial stains, to ensure you get the best results from the Zoom 2
This can be done at your regular dentist, or we can arrange for you to see our hygienist
Once you have had your hygiene you can book for your Zoom 2.
Payment for your Zoom 2 whitening:
When you book your appointment, you will need to pay £200 deposit – this is to cover the 2 hour time slot we allocate to your Zoom 2 whitening.
If you do not attend or if you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, and we are unable to fill the appointment we do not refund your deposit
If you change your mind and cancel, providing you give more than 24 hours notice, we will refund your deposit in full
Your balance is payable on the day you have the Zoom 2 procedure.

Your Zoom 2 whitening day
Please make sure that you are not in a hurry on the day of your whitening, so that we can give you the best treatment
If you attend early, you can have a nice cup of tea or coffee beforehand, remember, you will not be able to have one afterwards
Bring a favourite tape, so that you have something to listen to whilst being Zoomed
Before you’re Zoomed you will have some photos taken to check the original shade of your teeth
Once we have done this, we will ask you to go and brush your teeth with special toothpaste
We supply the brush as well, so you don’t need to bring your own
This removes the protein layer from the surface of your teeth so that the whitening agent will work
You will then return to the surgery and the dentist or hygienist will seat you in the dental chair and ensure your tape is organised.
After your Zoom 2 whitening:
For 24 hours you must not smoke, eat or drink anything coloured, as your teeth remain porous until the normal protein layer builds up again
With some people, the build up of the protein layer and rehydration of their teeth will make their teeth look a little darker than when we took your final photos, but they should not go back to their original colour
We would expect the whitening to last for 2 years in most cases, although if you are a heavy smoker, or drink a lot of black tea, coffee or red wine, this may not last as long.
Some peoples teeth stain quickly due to their diet, and may need to have regular top ups
We recommend the use of a nightguard with whitening gel for this, and provide you with a set of these after your Zoom procedure. I hope these notes will demystify the Zoom procedure for you. We look forward to giving you a gleaming white smile.
